ITC supports Ghanaian cocoa sector to meet EU sustainability standards

The International Trade Centre (ITC) is assisting Ghana’s cocoa sector in preparing for the European Union’s Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence (CSDD) directive, aimed at ensuring sustainable and ethical practices across supply chains.
As part of this initiative, the ITC has organised a workshop to equip Ghanaian cocoa producers with the knowledge and tools required to align with the EU’s sustainability standards and maintain access to the European market.
Speaking at the event, ITC Coordinator Larry Attipoe explained that the primary goal of the workshop is to build the capacity of local cocoa producers to meet the EU's evolving regulatory requirements.
“The objective is to enable our cocoa producers to comply with the EU’s sustainability standards, which is crucial for retaining and expanding our presence in the European market,” he said.
The workshop is expected to empower participants with the skills and understanding necessary to adapt to the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence directive, thereby enhancing the competitiveness and sustainability of Ghana’s cocoa exports.
