Mahama Appoints Bondzie to lead Energy Commission
President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Ms Adwoa Serwaa Bondzie as Executive Secretary of the Energy Commission, marking a key leadership shift within Ghana’s energy regulatory architecture.
Ms Bondzie exits her role as Deputy Managing Director of BOST Energies Limited to assume responsibility for the statutory body charged with regulating electricity, natural gas and other energy resources in the country.
Her appointment comes at a time when Ghana’s energy sector continues to confront issues of regulatory enforcement, operational efficiency and long-term sustainability. As Executive Secretary, she will oversee the Commission’s mandate to license, monitor and advise on energy production and utilisation nationwide.
A send-off ceremony was held in Accra on Monday, February 16, 2026, where management and staff of BOST Energies formally bid her farewell. Managing Director Afetsi Awoonor described her departure as a “bittersweet” moment, citing her contribution to strengthening internal discipline, teamwork and institutional growth during her tenure.

In her remarks, Ms Bondzie thanked management and staff for their support and reaffirmed her commitment to advancing Ghana’s energy governance framework in her new capacity.
Following her departure, Mr Salifu Nat Acheampong has been elevated to the position of Deputy Managing Director at BOST Energies. A long-serving member of the company, he previously held senior responsibilities in corporate communications and executive advisory roles, contributing to stakeholder engagement and strategic operations.
Mr Acheampong pledged to support management in sustaining the company’s operational direction and institutional objectives.
He holds advanced academic qualifications in mass communications, diplomacy, education and energy transition studies from institutions in the United Kingdom and the United States.
The transition signals movement within two key institutions central to Ghana’s downstream petroleum operations and energy regulation, underscoring the evolving leadership landscape within the sector.
