Mahama orders GRA to sever ties with Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited
President John Dramani Mahama has directed the immediate termination of all government contracts with Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML) following the conclusion of investigations by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) into alleged corruption-related activities involving the company.
The directive, communicated through the Secretary to the President, Dr. Callistus Mahama, was addressed to the Minister of Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, and instructed that all existing agreements between the government and SML be “swiftly brought to an end.”
According to the Presidency, the move underscores the government’s unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and integrity in the management of public resources.
The OSP’s investigation, which commenced several months ago, focused on concerns surrounding procurement and compliance irregularities in SML’s contracts with the Ministry of Finance and the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).
In the directive, President Mahama also instructed the Ministry of Finance to ensure that the termination process adheres strictly to all legal and financial procedures, safeguarding the interests of the state while maintaining due process.
Government sources indicate that this decision forms part of a broader effort by the Mahama administration to strengthen public financial oversight and restore public trust in government contracting systems.
