Mahama's government committed to supporting farmers – Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare
Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry and Member of Parliament for Techiman North, Madam Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving the livelihoods of farmers through enhanced infrastructure and industrial support.
Speaking at the 41st National Farmers’ Day celebration held at Mesidan in the Techiman North District of the Bono East Region, the Minister assured farmers that the Mahama-led administration would continue to invest in critical facilities such as road networks and processing factories to boost agricultural productivity.
She stressed that addressing post-harvest losses remains a major priority, noting that farmers must not lose income due to a lack of proper storage or access to markets.
“We are committed to providing the necessary support—roads, factories and other infrastructure—to ensure farmers achieve high yields and earn the income they truly deserve,” Madam Ofosu-Adjare said.
The Minister highlighted ongoing road construction and a cashew processing factory project in the district, describing them as clear proof of the government’s dedication to transforming the agricultural sector and improving value addition.
Meanwhile, at the regional event held at Kwame Danso in the Sene East District, Bono East Regional Minister, Mr Francis Owusu Antwi, reminded farmers and traditional leaders of the government’s new Farmer Service Centre initiative under the “Feed Ghana” programme.
He explained that the initiative is designed to provide farmers with essential services and inputs to ensure better yields and increased income.
The 41st National Farmers’ Day celebrations across the region recognised the critical role farmers play in sustaining Ghana’s economy, reaffirming the government’s resolve to strengthen the sector for long-term growth.
