Metro Mass Transit boosts monthly revenue to GH¢14 million despite fewer buses — MD

The Managing Director(MD) of Metro Mass Transit Limited (MMT), Mr. Kale Ceasar, has revealed that the company now generates between GH¢13 million and GH¢14 million in monthly revenue, a significant increase from the GH¢8.7 million recorded previously — despite operating with fewer buses.
Mr. Ceasar disclosed this during an interview on Class 91.3 FM's morning show hosted by Kwame Dwumor Agyemang on Monday, October 6, 2025, highlighting the company’s ongoing turnaround efforts aimed at improving operational efficiency, revenue collection, and customer service.
He attributed the improvement to the introduction of digital ticketing systems, enhanced route management, and strict monitoring of revenue leakages across MMT depots nationwide.
He stressed that pilfering has reduced, adding that his predecessors were routing 160 buses every day, but today we are routing between 115 to 129 buses every day.
“Even though we are currently operating with a reduced fleet, prudent management and innovation have helped us increase our monthly revenue substantially,” he said.
He said the leakages were so high with drivers and conductors taking a chunk of Metro-Mass revenue.
'We have now automated our parcel division, which had only forty per cent coverage today is now almost ninety-eight per cent coverage across the country, ' he added
People may take part of our money into their pockets, but not so much, this is very insignificant compared to what we inherited from our predecessors, he noted.
Mr. Ceasar added that Metro Mass Transit is also working to expand its fleet and modernise its operations, with new buses expected to arrive under government-backed initiatives to strengthen the public transport sector.
The Managing Director expressed optimism that the company’s financial recovery will ensure better service delivery and contribute to the government’s broader agenda of improving affordable and reliable public transportation for all Ghanaians.
