NEIP governing board meets as Youth Minister pushes business acceleration agenda
The Governing Board of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) has been convened as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen youth entrepreneurship and drive business growth across the country.
The meeting, held at the close of a busy day, was chaired by the Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, who engaged members of the Board on strategic priorities for the year ahead.
Discussions centred on sharpening NEIP’s focus on business acceleration, in line with its core mandate of nurturing job creators rather than job seekers.
Unlike other state agencies that place greater emphasis on employability, NEIP’s role in developing sustainable enterprises and supporting emerging employers was highlighted as critical to Ghana’s broader economic transformation.
A key item on the agenda was the rollout of the 'Adwumawura' Programme, with the Board exploring practical ways to improve beneficiaries’ access to funding opportunities and markets to ensure long-term business viability.
The Minister George Opare stressed that effective oversight of NEIP’s operations remains essential and reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining a Board that is agile, results-oriented and responsive to the needs of young entrepreneurs.
He noted that strengthening NEIP’s institutional effectiveness would be vital in supporting the ambitions of Ghana’s next generation of business leaders and translating innovative ideas into thriving enterprises that create jobs and economic value.
