President Mahama directs Finance Minister to address USAID funding gaps

President John Dramani Mahama has instructed Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson to take immediate steps to bridge funding gaps left by the dissolution of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) programme in Ghana.
A statement issued on Tuesday, signed by Presidential Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu, indicated that the President expressed deep concern over the estimated $156 million funding shortfall.
The directive underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring that critical programmes previously supported by USAID continue without disruption.
The Finance Ministry is expected to explore alternative funding sources to mitigate the impact of the funding gap on Ghana’s development initiatives.
