V/R: ECG and GRIDCo install 15 MVA transformer in Sogakope to boost power supply

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), in partnership with the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo), has installed a new 15 MVA transformer at its Bulk Supply Point (BSP) in Sogakope, located in the South Tongu District of the Volta Region.
The GH¢969,867.90 project aims to enhance power reliability, improve voltage quality, and ensure consistent electricity supply to key towns such as Akatsi, Keta, Adidome, Denu, and Sogakope.
Before the upgrade, the area was served by a 10/13MVA transformer, which often struggled with load pressure. The new 15 MVA unit is expected to ease the strain on the power system, reduce fluctuations, and significantly improve service delivery across the affected communities.
Speaking at a media briefing, Volta Regional General Manager of ECG, Christina Jatoe-Kaleo, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to providing reliable and quality electricity to residents.
She also urged the public to support ECG’s efforts by using power responsibly and reporting issues promptly
