We can only curb rising unemployment figures by changing our mindset – Agyekum
Mr Michael Agyekum, the Chief Executive Officer of Mikado Group of companies, has emphasised the need for a shift in mindset to address Ghana's growing unemployment challenge.
He highlighted the traditional expectation of securing employment after completing education is no longer viable in today's context.
Mr Agyekum pointed out Ghana's current socioeconomic situation makes it increasingly difficult for individuals to secure traditional employment opportunities, leading to a rise in unemployment rates.
He stressed the prevailing circumstances necessitate a shift towards entrepreneurship rather than reliance on employment.
According to him, the era of entrepreneurship is upon us, and individuals must adapt their mindset accordingly.
He underscored the importance of abandoning the notion of solely seeking employment and instead encouraged people to explore entrepreneurship as a viable alternative.
Mr Agyekum noted that stagnant businesses are unable to provide employment opportunities, further emphasising the need for individuals to embrace entrepreneurship.
He emphasised that venturing into entrepreneurship is the most viable solution to the current unemployment crisis.
Speaking during an interview on Accra 100.5 FM's 6:00 am news on Thursday, May 2, 2024, Mr Agyekum reiterated the importance of changing mindsets towards entrepreneurship as the key to overcoming Ghana's unemployment challenges
