Women in Kpone Katamanso empowered with vocational skills and business training
A major women’s empowerment programme has been held in the Kpone Katamanso Constituency of the Greater Accra Region, bringing together participants from Zenu, Atadika, Apollonia, Lebanon and surrounding communities under a shared vision of economic transformation through capacity-building.
The initiative, fully organised and sponsored by Bishop Abraham Aidoo, an aspiring independent parliamentary candidate, aimed at equipping women with practical vocational skills, business knowledge and the right mindset to thrive in today’s economic environment.
It forms part of a broader agenda to promote self-reliance, reduce dependency and create sustainable opportunities for women within the constituency.
The programme began with hands-on vocational training sessions focused on income-generating activities.
Participants received free practical instruction in the production of yoghurt, powdered soap, liquid soap, ointment, floor cleaner, disinfectant and other household consumables with strong local market demand.
Organisers indicated that the training was deliberately structured to enable participants to begin production immediately. Some women have already started producing and selling items within their communities, demonstrating early signs of impact.
Recognising that vocational skills alone are not sufficient for long-term business success, organisers incorporated a business and mindset development session into the programme.
Miss Miriam Mahama, a Business Consultant and Women Development Advocate, addressed participants on the importance of cultivating a growth-oriented mindset and building the capacity to manage opportunities effectively.
She encouraged the women to believe in their abilities, take calculated risks and avoid self-imposed limitations.
According to her, success begins with a shift in thinking.
“There is no perfect time. The right time is when you realise something must change in your life or your community.
That is when you act,” she told participants.
Her presentation highlighted five pillars of capacity building: faith and confidence in one’s vision; practical skills; strong relationships and networks; good health; and sound financial management, including saving and prudent spending.
The session was interactive, allowing participants to share experiences and discuss common challenges in business and personal development.
Organisers stated that the overarching goal of the initiative is to help women establish their own businesses, promote financial independence and strengthen local economic participation.
By combining vocational training with business education and mindset development, the programme seeks to nurture confident and capable women who can support their families and contribute meaningfully to the constituency’s economic growth.
The initiative was conceptualised and sponsored by Bishop Abraham Aidoo, whose approach, observers say, emphasises practical empowerment and grassroots transformation.![]()
Participants described the programme as timely and transformative, expressing optimism that the knowledge and skills acquired will enable them to build sustainable livelihoods.
Under the theme “Limitless: Building Capacity, Creating Opportunities,” the event delivered a clear message — empowerment begins with preparation, self-belief and decisive action.
As participants return to their communities equipped with new skills and renewed confidence, organisers are hopeful that the ripple effects will extend beyond the event, advancing economic independence across Kpone Katamanso.
