Accra Dot Alt opens slots for Chale Wote Street Art Festival 2024
The 14th edition of the Chale Wote Street Art Festival comes off between August 19 and 25, 2024.
Meanwhile, the organisers, Accra Dot Alt, has put out an official called for partners, artists, and vendors, spanning art, technology, design, sports, food and beverages, etc.
Usually held in Jamestown, Osu is the new venue for the Chale Wote Street Art Festival since 2023.
In 2022, the 12th edition, in its 11th year, was themed: ‘Stargate to Africa’, embracing the defiance of formal artistic boundaries and fragmentation of social experience through orature.

The 13th edition of Chale Wote Street Art Festival was held at the Black Star Square, taking over the entire Osu community and its hallowed and historical sites. Accra Dot Alt's press statement noted it was "a celebration of over a decade of offering some of the most iconic public art interventions by African artists, as well as co-creations with collaborators from across the world".
The new festival perimeter featured open air mural exhibitions by leading Ghanaian and international artists, showcasing work inspired by the rebellion of enslaved Afro-Brazilians in 1835 Salvador Bahia and their glorious return to present day Ghana, Togo and Nigeria.
Other showcases included performance art, graffiti, four music stages with 120 musicians and bands, film labs, salons, design, photography, processions, street theater and the Shika Shika Art Fair hosting independent artists at the Christianborg castle.
The world famous Highlife Cafe opened at the Black Star Square for the first time, alongside the Accra Cookout serving the city’s favourite dishes and obscure delicacies.
