National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communications team member, Roger TD Wills has called on Ghana's current political leaders to draw inspiration from the legacy of former President John Evans Atta Mills while recognising that leadership must evolve to meet the demands of changing times.

Speaking on the Class Morning Show on Tuesday, Wills said the late President left a lasting legacy that should encourage today's politicians to focus on making a positive impact through public service.

He, however, noted that not every aspect of Atta Mills' leadership style should be replicated, stressing that effective leadership must adapt to the realities of the present day.

"The late Professor Evans Fiifi Atta Mills was a refined person. When it came to his political dealings, he would not want to step on toes," Wills said.

"Yes, he has served; he has paid his dues. We recognize him as such but…I think life is evolving and society is gradually evolving,” he added.

Wills explained that while many people aspire to emulate great leaders, changing circumstances often demand different approaches. 

He said the conditions and challenges of each era shape leaders and influence how they respond to the needs of their time.

According to him, the former President's character, humility and commitment to peaceful politics remain qualities worth emulating. 

However, he maintained that every generation of leaders must adapt to the unique realities they face.

His remarks add to the ongoing reflections on the enduring legacy of the late President John Evans Atta Mills whose tenure continues to be remembered for its emphasis on peace, stability and national unity.
