Africans suffer because of Christianity – Ambolley
“Christianity is the cause of Africa’s suffering,” Ambolley has said.
He spoke to Taller Dee on the No.1 Gospel Showbiz programme on No.1 FM (105.3), during which period he rebuked contemporary Africans for “turning their backs on the ways of their ancestors” in favour of “the Whiteman’s Christianity”.
He challenged Christian leaders to prove the power in Jesus’ name by visiting and healing sick people in the country’s various hospitals.
The Highlife icon said, for the African, “heritage and wisdom,” have always been the sure and adequate moral compass, demonstrated by local tribes punishing and rewarding actions by members or guests.
Gyedu Blay Ambolley said: “By the look of things, today’s pastors only want money for their pockets,” having no compassion for their flock.
“If you need help from them, they tell you to seek it from God,” he bemoaned. “Meanwhile, they will pass a plate around and take the money on you.”
He bemoaned: “The very things Jesus beat people in the temple for have been brought back. They are selling Jesus himself, and selling oil, and selling lies.”
The singer-songwriter and rapper claimed the Whiteman does not practice the forgiveness and tolerance he presents to the African through the Bible.
“He’ll shoot you if you slap him. He will not turn the other cheek but he has asked you the African to practice forgiving 77 times, which you’ve gladly accepted, and so instead of going to work in the morning, you rather go to the chapel to pray,” the Jazz musician lamented.
The Sekondi-Takoradi-born Gyedu Blay Ambolley was reacting to a disturbing viral footage of one Pastor Kelvin Kwesi Kobiri cursing members of his congregation for deflecting.
