Bullet confident ‘little problem’ with Wendy Shay ‘almost solved’ as he highlights two new signees
The CEO of Rufftown Records has revealed the number of artistes left in his care.
Guesting on Accra 100.5 FM’s Ayekoo Ayekoo, Bullet, born Ricky Nana Agyemang, was responding to a listener's question concerning the whereabouts of singer Kiki Marley.
“Kiki is still on the label. You see, he is still under a grooming programme,” he added, assuring: “But this year, we’ll take off.”
“At the moment,” he responded to host Nana Romeo’s enquiry, “I have two artistes: Kiki Marley and Baba Tunde.”
He said this was apart from “other artistes I am grooming underground”.
Furthermore, Bullet brought up his star act Wendy Shay and her rumoured exit.
“It’s not as though she’s left. We’re currently having a back and forth. There is an issue we’re trying to discuss,” he explained, bemoaning the public had received the impasse as “settings” or a publicity stunt.
The singer-songwriter of Ruff & Smooth fame categorically added, “Wendy and I have a little problem we’re trying to solve. At the moment, I have two artistes, however.”
He clarified, “It’s not that Wendy’s completely left but human institutions have frictions,” confidently stating, also: “We’ll solve it. It’s almost solved, as a matter of fact. Her mother has arrived from overseas and we’re in talks.”
A Germany-trained nurse, Wendy Shay officially joined the Ghana music industry in June 2018, Uber Driver being her debut hit. With the release of her May 2024 single Who Cares, and the announcement of a private YouTube channel on her social media timelines, however, the rumour mill went into overdrive concerning her supposed boycotting of Rufftown Records in favour of a new deal or simply for her independence.
Wendy became Rufftown's lead-signee replacing Ebony Reigns after her passing by a road accident in February 2018.
An Afropop song, Who Cares covers a woman parting ways with a toxic partner, bold she will do just fine, with God's grace, without him. Listen below:
