Media personality Nana Romeo, born Abdul Karim, of Class Media Group (Accra FM), has sued media personality Sally Frimpong Mann, known simply as Sally Mann, over the latter's alleged defamatory remarks aimed at his person.
In the writ available to classfmonline.com, XYZ Broadcasting (Power FM), Agyemang Prempeh and Clement Asamoah were named as co-defendants, in that order, with Ms Mann.
Plaintiff Nana Romeo's Statement of Claim noted a demand for "general damages for defamation in the sum of GHS1,000,000.00," apart from a retraction of defamatory statements, and the rendering of an unqualified apology, among other things.
The writ dated Tuesday, January 21, 2025, indicated Samuel Kissiedu ESQ of ECAM Law Consult led Nana Romeo's legal representation.
The writ explained: "On Saturday, 14th December 2024, during a live show titled 'Power Entertainment' broadcast from the 2nd Defendant's studio and hosted by the 3rd Defendants, the 1st Defendant made defamatory statements about the Plaintiff.
"These statements included allegations that the Plaintiff had been convicted of raping two women, that Plaintiff is 'weak' and 'weak-minded', and that the 1st Defendant had previously defended the Plaintiff but ceased contact upon discovering the Plaintiff's purported guilt."
