Gomoa East NDC members appeal for fairness in DCE appointment
Some members of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Gomoa East Constituency of the Central Region are urging President John Dramani Mahama to ensure fairness and balance in his appointments, particularly regarding the District Chief Executive (DCE) position.
Their concerns follow the completion of the vetting process for Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the Central Region.
The party members are advocating for the selection of Anthony Afissah, the Constituency Chairman, as the Gomoa East DCE, citing the need for regional balance.
According to them, Afissah is the only finalist from the southern and coastal areas of the Constituency among the top three candidates being considered for the role.
With the current MP, Desmond Paitoo, from Dasum, and the Regional Minister-designate, Ekow Panyin, from Potsin, the concerned members argue that appointing another candidate from the northern part of the Constituency would be unfair.
Speaking to Class 91.3 FM's Central Regional correspondent, Samuel Addo Mustapha Nartey, a branch coordinator from Nyanyano, emphasized the importance of a balanced representation in governance.
Other members of the party also expressed their belief that a fair appointment process would strengthen party unity and make future campaigns easier for the NDC in the Constituency.
They are hopeful that President Mahama will take their concerns into consideration in his final decision.
