Easter: Obomeng chiefs issue warning on indecent dressing

As the annual Easter festivities get underway in Kwahu Obomeng, traditional leaders in the community are raising concerns about the growing trend of indecent dressing among some revellers.
Nana Siaw Ampadu, Tufohene of Kwahu Obomeng, has issued a caution to visitors, particularly women, who have been spotted wearing revealing clothing, including short skirts and underwear worn as outer garments.
He described such attire as inappropriate for public celebrations and urged attendees to dress modestly in line with the community’s cultural values.
“We welcome everyone to join us in celebrating Easter, but we expect visitors to respect our customs and dress decently.
This is a family-oriented celebration, and decorum must be maintained,” Nana Ampadu stated.
Supporting his call, the Queen Mother of Kwahu Obomeng, Nana Yaa Kwei II, also appealed to visitors to be conscious of their dressing and promote a respectful and dignified atmosphere throughout the festivities.
She emphasised the importance of upholding traditional values, particularly during major cultural and religious events like Easter.
The chiefs' appeal comes as thousands flock to the Kwahu area to mark what has become one of Ghana’s most vibrant and widely attended holiday events.
