Get the youth 'addicted' to local content even through freebies, says Ashanti Regional Minister to creatives

The Ashanti Regional Minister Dr Frank Amoakohene has charged industry players to capture the attention of the youth with creative local content before they come into their purchasing power.
He encouraged making great investments in the creative arts, and, also, making local content free to young people to get them hooked.
He spoke at the maiden National Film Dialogue. Themed 'Accelerating Industry Development', the event attracted policymakers and creatives, and have the Cedi Conference Centre, University of Ghana (UG), Legon, for venue.
"As we also work on generating revenue, one key thing that has come up is that we need to invest. Most of the young ones, especially those in SSS [Senior High School] and downwards are losing touch of our local content and that is one area we should put emphasis on," Dr Amoakohene said.
He explained, "At that level, we can offer it to them for free, so that they will [get] addicted to the local content. Once they get to the university where they can pay the 20 cedis or 50 ceids, we can chase them there because by then, they are already addicted to the local content."
