The National Identification Authority (NIA) has commenced the distribution of Ghanacards to children aged 6 to 14 years who were previously registered under its nationwide identification programme.

The exercise, which began today — Monday, October 6, 2025 — is taking place in 56 districts across the country.

According to the NIA, the cards are being issued at the same schools where the children were originally registered.

To receive their cards, each child must be present in person and accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, who is required to present the original registration receipt (Form A) issued on the day of registration.

The Authority has assured the public that all backlogs of unprinted Ghanacards have been cleared, allowing for a seamless distribution process.

It added that the remaining districts will be covered in subsequent phases, with specific timelines to be announced soon.

Additionally, the NIA noted that new registration dates for children within the same age group will be communicated in due course.

The Authority is urging parents and guardians to cooperate fully with officials to ensure a smooth and efficient exercise nationwide.
