Minority members on Parliament’s Communications and Information Committee have hit back at Mr. Samuel Nartey George over comments he made in a recent interview on JoyNews regarding the ongoing impasse with DSTV.

In a strongly worded rebuttal, the Minority MPs described the Ningo-Prampram legislator as “arrogant, disrespectful, and pompous,” accusing him of shifting his stance on the demand for a price reduction from the satellite television provider.

According to the Minority, they had formally written to the committee chairman requesting a meeting to address the DSTV matter but emphasised that convening such meetings is the responsibility of the chairman, not ordinary members.

They recalled earlier remarks by Mr. George, in which he insisted that negotiations with DSTV should result in a minimum 30% price reduction rather than mere package upgrades.

“It appears that his stance has shifted. The question remains: who between him and the Minority members is incompetent?” the statement queried.

The Minority also issued two key demands:

That the Minister of Communications explains why the initial demand for a 30% reduction has been altered.

That the government accounts for funds collected from the GH¢10,000 levy imposed on DSTV since its introduction.

While rejecting calls for an apology from Mr. George over what they described as insults, the Minority maintained that they remain committed to their duties and will continue to push for accountability in the DSTV matter.
