Ghana has launched its Heritage Month 2026, with a call to citizens to celebrate and live their cultural heritage.

The theme for this year's celebration is "See Ghana, Eat Ghana, Wear Ghana, Feel Ghana", under the Black Star Experience.

 The launch event emphasised the importance of practising and living Ghana's cultural heritage, rather than just admiring it.

Citizens were encouraged to wear traditional clothing, eat local foods, and explore Ghana's tourist attractions.

The celebration aims to drive economic growth, employment, and innovation through sustainable tourism.

CEO of Ghana Tourism Authority's  Maame Efua Houadjeto emphasised that heritage is not just a memory, but a practice that builds nations.

She urged Ghanaians to take pride in their culture and promote it to the world.

The event highlighted the importance of sustainable tourism, with tourism being one of Ghana's strongest economic pillars.

The Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, said the month of March is dedicated to celebrating Ghana's heritage, commemorating the country's independence and the bravery of its forebears.

 The celebration aims to preserve and promote Ghana's unique cultural identity, stimulate domestic tourism, and boost local businesses.

 The Ministry and its agencies are working to ensure Ghana's cultural heritage is listed on the UNESCO Heritage.

Abla Dzifa Gomashie emphasised the importance of preserving Ghana's cultural heritage, citing its potential to drive economic growth, employment, and innovation.

She encouraged Ghanaians and visitors to participate in the month-long celebrations, highlighting the country's historic landmarks, festivals, and culinary delights.
