Godwin Avenorgbor: Legendary broadcaster nicknamed The Grand Master dead

Godwin Avenorgbor has died.
The news of the legendary broadcaster's demise came to public attention on August 19, 2024.
The cause of his death is not immediately known.
Godwin Avenorgbor was affectionately called The Grand Master or Grand Master G.
He served as an on-air personality and journalist at the national broadcaster, GBC, and rose to directorship at same.
Avernorgbor also served as Director of Communications at the Melcom Group of Companies.

On Thursday, August 15, The Grand Master, serving as the chairman of the the planning committee, actively participated in the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) 75th Anniversary Commemorative Lecture at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel, La, Accra.
His last Facebook post decried the National Petroleum Authority's cylinder recirculation model.
"Another bogus creation to destory private sector investment," he bemoaned, asserting, also, it was a nepotistic scheme.
On Facebook, GBC mourned, Monday night: "The ‘Grandmaster’(Godwin Avenorgbor) bows out. May his gentle soul rest in peace."
Mr Avenorgbor was believed to be the brain behind the introduction of morning and breakfast shows in Ghana on radio and TV, a tradition which has become indispensable for the discussion of topical socio-political issues.
