Ko-Jo Cue’s “ultimate goal” with his music is to give therapy to his listeners.

He said this was “especially necessary nowadays with the arrival of social media with all its pressures”.

He noted the irresistable tendency to compare oneself with millions of familiar and strange people on the internet on a daily basis, was causing serious mental illnesses, and complicating people's lives.

He told Prince Benjamin (PB) a story to illustrate his point, on Accra 100.5 FM's Entertainment Capital.

“Growing up without social media, you were only moved by seeing, let’s say, someone’s car in your locality, which for me was Bantama [Kumasi]. But now on the internet, you see a 22-year-old riding a dream car. Someone you do the same job with may seem to advance and acquire things you can’t. All this makes you anxious, and destroys your confidence,” the rap star narrated.

For this reason, Ko-Jo Cue said he aimed to make “music that makes people realise they are not alone with wants and needs, they are not alone in the battles of life. We are all in it. Perhaps, some of us have learned to brave it out and utilise some hacks”.

“I always share what I’m going through, what I’ve observed, with the public through music,” he emphasised.

The Kumasi-based rapper, who once toured with Hiphop legend Lauryn Hill, said he had no interest in fame, admitting, also, that this posture had cost him greatly, stunting his commercial success. 

He intimated he was unperturbed.

He emphasised that what brought him profound joy was doing music and getting feedback from people whose lives had been transformed by it. He said he encountered such people via his social media regularly, sometimes speaking to some who are suicidal by phone.

Ko-Jo Cue is famous not just for his rhyming gift and occasional dance hits, but more especially for his relatable and thought-provoking storytelling, which often reflects and explores the ironies, paradoxes and complexities of life. This made his debut solo album, For My Brothers, a classic with both critics and fans.

His sophomore is out in November 2025. Already, two singles are out: Onipa Hia Mmoa with Ayisi, and Tontonte with Ofori Amponsah and Arathejay.
