MultiChoice denies agreement on DStv price reduction

Pay-TV operator MultiChoice Group has dismissed reports suggesting that it had agreed to reduce subscription fees for its flagship DStv service in Ghana.
In a statement issued on Friday, the company said it had taken note of comments made by the Minister for Communications Technology and Innovation, Mr Samuel Nartey George, regarding pricing concerns.
According to MultiChoice, while it is engaging with the Minister to find a solution that balances the interests of stakeholders, any decision must also ensure the sustainability and viability of the DStv service in the country.
The company further confirmed its commitment to fully participate in the Working Committee established to address the issue, but stressed that it had not agreed to a price reduction.
The clarification comes amid growing public debate over pay-TV tariffs and the affordability of subscription services in Ghana.
