Oyokodehye Kofi has been crowned the Highlife DJ of the Year at the 2023 Guinness Ghana DJ Awards.

Organised by Mercury Public Events, the popular awards show took place on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at the Grand Arena, Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).

Notably, Oyokodehye bagged the trophy four times back to back between 2018 and 2021 and with this latest win, has made it a fantastic five.

“I think that for the past years I have worked so hard to project highlife music to the world and have also won so many awards in connection to highlife music but this win is exceptional,” he remarked to Class News.

“I look forward to impacting more people through highlife music as a DJ,” he added.

A disk jockey (DJ) and on-air personality on Accra 100.5 FM, he performed live at the 2023 Guinness Ghana DJ Awards, donning a regal kente cloth which was as stunning as his spinning of classic Highlife tunes.

“It was such an amazing feeling to project Highlife music to the world and as one of the best Highlife presenters in Ghana, I rehearsed so much to give my best to the audience,” he recalled his time on stage.

“Ghana is known for its rich and vibrant music especially with Highlife and has been a hub for talented DJs who have made significant contributions to the global music scene,” the radio star and travel enthusiast underscored.

Born Eric Owusu Gyimah, he indicated what makes him love Highlife music so much.

“I am very passionate about music and particularly Highlife because it gives us our identity.

“Music is part of our culture and defines who we are as a people and so I deem it as a responsibility to project what is unique about my people.

“It is believed that music is the food of the soul but Highlife music, I think, is the fresh meal that Ghanaians should always be served with,” he said.
