Stonebwoy shines as Ghana’s cultural icon on the global stage
Ghanaian dancehall sensation Stonebwoy has been hailed as a key ambassador of Ghanaian culture following his electrifying performance with Grammy-winning singer Angélique Kidjo at London’s prestigious Royal Albert Hall.
Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Ghana’s Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, described the collaboration as a powerful display of the country’s cultural reach.
She emphasised that Stonebwoy’s artistry goes beyond entertainment, representing Ghana on an international platform.
“Stonebwoy carried Ghana with him on that stage. His creativity spoke louder than words and connected with audiences everywhere,” Gomashie said in a recent interview on Accra-based Channel One TV.
The historic performance in November 2023 saw Stonebwoy and Kidjo perform their hit track “Mandozi”, captivating fans with a blend of music, language, and cultural storytelling.
According to the Minister, the show’s impact was heightened by its ability to communicate across borders, thanks to the universal language of music.
“The magic was not just in the performance but in the shared cultural understanding it created.
People from different countries felt the message, the rhythm, and the essence of Ghanaian creativity,” she added.
