'The Guardians: The Chosen Ones' – Mills Media set to premiere new animation series in Dec
‘Mills Media is set to premiere another highly anticipated animation series The Guardians: The Chosen Ones – a superhero series which aims to highlight Ghana’s rich folklore and heritage through compelling storytelling.
This was revealed on Friday, November 1, at the British Council, when Mills Media launched The Guardians: The Chosen Ones.
The series makes a strong case for Ghana’s growing animation industry and is targeted to release in December 2024 bringing a diverse and youth-focused brand of storytelling to the forefront.
According to the CEO of Mills Media, Jesse Sunkwa-Mills, The Guardians: The Chosen Ones zooms in on four friends chosen and charged by the gods to protect their city against various threats, including crime and climate change, while serving as symbols of hope.
A story with a moral that would resonate with both local and international audiences, The Guardians: The Chosen Ones aims to tackle pressing issues in a way that feels accessible, inspiring and educational, especially for the youth.
On his part, the President of the Animators Association of Ghana (AAGh), Samuel Quartey, expressed gladness for Ghana making remarkable strikes in the animation market in recent years. To foster a community of animation enthusiasts and to attract investors and distributors, he challenged industry players to keep creating, collaborating and championing change.
The award-winning Mills Media, renowned for their acclaimed animation Asantewaa which premiered in 2022 with sold-out screenings at the Silverbird Cinemas, in 2023 followed up with Rise.
Rise underlines that disability is not inability. It is currently enjoying a successful run on the festival circuit.
This track record demonstrates the young Mills Media is rapidly establishing itself as a significant force in Ghana’s animation industry.
