Alan has an issue with Bawumia overtaking him – Ofosu Nkansah
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Entrepreneurship & Innovation Programme (NEIP), Kofi Ofosu Nkansah, has responded to Alan Kyerematen's criticism of former President John Agyekum Kufuor’s endorsement of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
Kyerematen, who is the flagbearer of the Movement for Change, had strongly criticised Kufuor for publicly supporting Bawumia ahead of the 2024 general elections.
In a Facebook post shared on Monday, November 18, Mr Ofosu Nkansah addressed Mr Kyerematen’s remarks, which had suggested that Kufuor's endorsement had tarnished his political legacy.
According to Kyerematen, Kufuor’s endorsement of Bawumia had placed a "big blot" on his career, given his respected status in Ghanaian politics.
Mr Ofosu Nkansah, however, dismissed Kyerematen’s critique, arguing that the former Trade Minister’s comments stemmed from personal frustration.
He suggested that Kyerematen was “pained” by the rise of Dr Bawumia in Ghana’s political landscape, which had led to his current position of support for the Movement for Change.
Mr Ofosu Nkansah implied that Kyerematen's statements were driven by the fact that Bawumia had surpassed him in political influence.
The NEIP CEO’s post added that Kyerematen’s remarks were indicative of personal grievances rather than a fair political assessment.
Mr Ofosu Nkansah also suggested that Kyerematen should focus on the issues at hand rather than targeting individuals in the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
"Someone (Alan Kyerematen) who thought he should have come before John Agyekum Kufuor would obviously have issues with Dr Mahamudu Bawumia overtaking him," he posted
