Ghanaian gospel musician, Uncle Ato, has praised President John Dramani Mahama for prioritising the creative arts sector in his State of the Nation Address (SONA).

Reacting to the President’s announcement, Uncle Ato described the allocation of GHS20 million to the film industry and an additional GHS20 million to other creative sectors, including the Ghana music industry, as a bold and commendable move.

Speaking after the SONA, on Live Worship on Accra 100.FM  with the host Abrantie Kwaku Sampah, the gospel artiste said the financial support signals a renewed commitment to the growth and sustainability of Ghana’s creative economy.

According to him, the intervention will not only empower filmmakers and musicians but also create jobs for the youth and promote Ghanaian culture on the global stage.

Uncle Ato noted that the President has done well by recognising the vital role the creative arts industry plays in national development.

He expressed optimism that the funds would be disbursed transparently and effectively to ensure meaningful impact across the sector.
