The Ministry of Health has announced the approval of salary arrears owed to nurses and midwives posted in 2024 and 2025, following successful negotiations with the Ministry of Finance.
The arrears will be settled in a structured four-month instalment plan, running from April to July 2026:
- April – 2 months’ arrears
- May – 3 months’ arrears
- June – 3 months’ arrears
- July – 3 months’ arrears
According to the ministry, the payment schedule reflects the government’s commitment to clearing outstanding obligations in a timely and responsible manner.
The Ministry of Health also commended nurses and midwives for their patience, dedication, and continued service to the nation despite the delays.
Additionally, the ministry expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Finance for prioritising the settlement of the arrears.
“Government remains committed to the welfare and motivation of all health workers across the country,” said Tony Goodman, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health.
This development comes as part of broader efforts to ensure that healthcare workers are adequately supported, recognising their critical role in delivering essential health services nationwide.
