Vice President highlights the future of African cinema at REFFA 2025
The Vice President of the Republic of Ghana has underscored the importance of professionalism, sustainability, and strategic investment in Africa’s film industry at the maiden edition of the Regal Film Festival and Awards (REFFA) 2025.
The Vice President attended the inaugural ceremony, which brought together filmmakers, actors, producers, and creatives from Ghana and across the African continent to celebrate excellence in filmmaking and storytelling.
The event marked a significant milestone in the growth of Ghana’s creative arts sector and its expanding influence within the global film industry.
In her address, the Vice President commended REFFA for creating a platform that not only recognises talent but also opens pathways for African films to access regional and international markets.
She noted that initiatives such as REFFA play a critical role in positioning African narratives on global platforms while preserving their cultural authenticity and depth.
The Vice President urged filmmakers and actors, particularly emerging creatives, to prioritise depth, quality, and professionalism over mere visibility. She stressed that African stories must be told with purpose and excellence to resonate with audiences and compete effectively in global markets.
She also called on investors, development partners, and industry stakeholders to adopt a long-term perspective on the film industry, emphasising its immense potential to generate employment, strengthen cultural diplomacy, and contribute meaningfully to economic growth.
The Vice President congratulated all award recipients and participants and expressed optimism about the future of REFFA, describing it as a promising platform for nurturing the next generation of creative talent and elevating African storytelling on the world stage.
