‘Wicked, evil NPP’ – Efia Odo rebukes NAPO for ‘talking irresponsibly’
Efia Odo has echoed a 2021 tweet of hers on the platform now called X, defending the legacy of Ghana’s first President Kwame Nkrumah.
The influencer asked her followers to consider what life would be like if, among other things, Dr Nkrumah had not led the British-controlled Gold Coast to political independence; an act that is noted as his ultimate achievement.
“Imagine if Kwame Nkrumah never led the Gold Coast to independence. Imagine if he never constructed the motorway or built the Akosombo Dam and Tema Harbour. What if he never established the University of Science and Technology. Where would we have been as a people and a nation?” Efia Odo wrote.
She posted again: “People will get a little money and power and start talking irresponsibly about their predecessors. What monumental thing has the president done? Building a cathedral with tax payers money? Nothing NPP or NDC has done can be compared to what Kwame Nkrumah has done for Ghanaians.”
Her July 9 X posts come after Energy Minister Matthew Opoku Prempeh declared Kwame Nkrumah’s legacy pales in comparison to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s.
Dr Opoku Prempeh spoke at the Kumasi Jubilee Park where he was officially announced as the ruling party’s vice presidential candidate, running along Dr Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, the current vice president, for the general elections on December 7, 2024.
“Nana Akufo-Addo is the only president during whose tenure of eight years, there was no hunger. When the entire world was experiencing hunger, Ghana had food. Let’s thank God because he’s done a lot for the party.
“If we look at Ghana’s history, when President Akufo-Addo goes on retirement, I can hit my chest and boldly say since Ghana was created in 1957, we’ve not had any president that has worked to the benefit of Ghana more than Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo,” Dr Prempeh, alias Napo, said, emphasising: “I’m saying not even your Nkrumah can compare since 1957… No president has ruled, protected and advanced Ghana more than Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.”
Meanwhile, on July 10, Efia Odo called the ruling New Patriotic Party: “Wicked evil NPP.”
