A/R: NDC Chairman Asiedu Nketiah backs Ashantifest with GHS50k, commends Minister’s vision
The National Chairman of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has donated GHS50,000 to support the Ashantifest Street Art Festival at the Asokwa Interchange, while commending the Ashanti Regional Minister for the initiative.
During a tour of the site, he praised Frank Amoakohene for spearheading the beautification project under Ashantifest, noting that it has contributed to improving the city’s appearance.
Mr Nketiah remarked that despite his relatively young age, Dr Amoakohene demonstrates notable wisdom, referencing the biblical figures King Solomon and Methuselah to emphasise that wisdom is not determined by age.
He urged individuals who previously held positions of authority but did not initiate similar projects to refrain from vandalising the artworks.
Mr Nketiah also advised the Minister to leave one of the defaced artworks untouched as a deterrent against vandalism and as an educational point for visitors.
He further acknowledged the Minister’s expanded scope of responsibility, noting the inclusion of urban beautification efforts aimed at transforming Kumasi and the wider Ashanti Region.
Mr Nketiah concluded by calling on residents to support the initiative to help restore Kumasi’s status as the Garden City.
