Agogo Omanhene Nana Kwame Akuoko Sarpong passes on at 88
The Omanhene of the Agogo Traditional Area in the Ashanti Region, Nana Kwame Akuoko Sarpong, has passed away at the age of 88.
Born in 1938, Nana Akuoko Sarpong was widely regarded as a distinguished traditional ruler and statesman whose leadership spanned decades of dedicated service to his people and Ghana at large.
During his reign, he played a pivotal role in promoting peace, unity, and development within the Agogo Traditional Area, earning admiration for his wisdom, diplomacy, and commitment to cultural preservation.
Beyond his traditional authority, Nana Akuoko Sarpong was also recognised for his contributions to national discourse, often serving as a voice of counsel on governance, chieftaincy, and community development.
His passing marks the end of an era, as many remember him as a royal icon who embodied leadership, integrity, and a deep sense of duty.
Tributes are expected to pour in from across the country as traditional leaders, government officials, and the general public honour his legacy and immense contributions to society.
Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the Agogo Traditional Council in the coming days
