Otumfuo visits Trinidad and Tobago for Emancipation Day; strengthens ties of cooperation

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, has undertaken a momentous courtesy visit to the President of Trinidad and Tobago, Christine Carla Kangaloo O. R. T. T.
During this special occasion, several prominent figures were present, including President Kangaloo's husband, Kerwyn Garcia, Senator Dr. Amery Browne, the Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, and Rita Toussaint, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs.
The Asantehene's arrival at the Piarco International Airport (South Terminal) in Port of Spain, the capital city of Trinidad and Tobago, marked the commencement of his participation in the celebration of their Emancipation Day over the weekend.
To extend a warm welcome to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, a distinguished reception committee was assembled at the Airport. The committee included Senator Dr. Amery Browne, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Fitzgerald Hinds, Minister of National Security, Senator Paula Gopee-Scoon, Minister of Trade and Industry, and Senator Randall Mitchell, Minister of Tourism, Culture, and the Arts.
This visit carries significant significance as it aims to strengthen the cultural ties between the people of Trinidad and Tobago and the Ashanti people, and by extension, Ghana. The gesture reflects a commitment to fostering deeper connections and mutual understanding between these nations.
As the celebrations unfold and the visit progresses, it is expected that this cultural exchange will further enrich the relationship between the people of Trinidad and Tobago and the Ashanti community, promoting friendship and cooperation for years to come.
