Don’t be misled: Marriage is worth it- Supreme Lady
Ghanaian media personality Mavis Asante, popularly known as Supreme Lady, has encouraged young people not to be discouraged by negative perceptions about marriage, insisting that marriage remains a good and fulfilling institution when couples put in the necessary effort.
Speaking during an interview on Hit FM, Supreme Lady challenged the growing notion that marriage limits personal freedom or marks the end of one’s ambitions.
According to her, such beliefs are misconceptions that often mislead people.
“Marriage is good.
Don’t let anyone deceive you into thinking it’s bad or that your life ends when you get married,” she said.
She explained that many people develop the wrong impression about marriage because they fail to understand the level of commitment it requires.
Drawing a comparison to careers and businesses, she noted that marriage demands the same dedication, energy, and hard work people invest in other aspects of their lives.
“You can’t just say you are married and leave it there.
The same energy you put into your business, your career, and everything you do, you must put that same effort into your marriage to make it work,” she stated.
Supreme Lady added that couples must be willing to learn and adapt as challenges arise.
She said trying different approaches to solve problems and improving communication can help strengthen the relationship over time.
“As the days go by, you will see changes. If something doesn’t work one way, you try another way,” she advised.
She also emphasised the importance of choosing the right partner, noting that being with an understanding and supportive spouse makes the journey easier.
Her comments have sparked conversations among listeners, especially young adults, about the realities of marriage and the importance of commitment, patience, and mutual understanding in building lasting relationships.
