Set boundaries to make your marriages work: Counsellor to young people

Renowned relationship counsellor, Mrs. Xorse Kamasa-Quashie, has advised young people, particularly women, to set clear boundaries while courting to ensure their intentions for marriage materialize.
Speaking in an interview with King Kwasi Kyei Darkwah (KKD) on CTV’s "MASTER of THE GAME" personality show on Friday, February 14, 2025, ahead of Valentine’s Day, Mrs. Kamasa-Quashie emphasized that men often appreciate women who establish boundaries in relationships.
According to her, failure to do so may diminish a man’s commitment to an initial intent of marriage.
She cited an example where a man and a female friend went on a date, but the woman was preoccupied with phone calls, failing to give the man adequate attention.
She noted that such behaviour sends negative signals to men, and women may not always realize it.
Mrs. Kamasa-Quashie also urged young people to understand the difference between dating and courting.
She explained that courting involves being in a relationship with the clear intention of marriage, whereas dating is simply getting to know someone without any intimate involvement.
She encouraged young women to prioritize their partners during courtship and ensure they build relationships that align with their long-term goals.
She announced that men are intentional about who they choose to be the mother of their children while women are carried away by some fantasies.
She called on women to be respectful, show self-respect, show kindness, and add other values to what they have already acquired to adapt when life throws a hard ball at them.
