Deputy Transport Minister-Designate proposes Jomoro-Tema railway link

Deputy Minister-designate for Transport, Madam Dorcas Affo-Toffey, has proposed the construction of a railway line linking Jomoro in the Western Region to Tema in the Greater Accra Region, as part of efforts to boost Ghana’s railway infrastructure and improve the movement of goods across the country.
Appearing before Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Friday, July 25, Madam Affo-Toffey underscored her commitment to revitalising the railway sector and making it more appealing to both local and international investors.
“If given the nod, I will work closely with my sector minister, Mr Joseph Bukari Nikpe, to attract private investment and explore innovative solutions to revamp the sector and make it viable for national development,” she told the committee.
When asked about her position on a proposed rail link between Jomoro and Tema, the nominee expressed strong support for the idea.
“Yes, Mr. Chairman, I support it wholeheartedly.
It will be beneficial to the country,” she affirmed.
Madam Affo-Toffey also pledged to play a meaningful role in transforming Ghana’s transport and railway sectors, emphasising that enhanced infrastructure is key to economic growth and regional integration.
