The brutal truths every working man ought to know
Men, this is not motivation. This is survival. Read it like your future depends on it—because it does.
1. Build your own damn house early. I don’t care if it’s in the city or the village—own land, own walls, own a roof. Living in a government house until 50 is not success, it’s slavery with a monthly paycheck.
Your kids deserve to grow up in your home, not one that kicks them out when you’re gone.
2. Go home. You are NOT the backbone of your department. If you die today, HR will replace you before your body gets cold. Your wife and kids will remember you—not your boss, not your title.
3. Stop worshipping promotions.
Master your craft, become excellent, and build YOURSELF.
If they promote you—fine. If they don’t—keep building your own name, not their company’s.
4. Avoid office gossip. Men who talk too much about others have nothing great happening in their own lives. Protect your name like it’s gold—because once it’s dirty, it never shines the same.
5. Never compete with your boss. You will lose. Never compete with your colleagues.
You will burn yourself out. Run your own race.
6. Have a side hustle. Your salary will NOT save you. Build something that makes money while you sleep.
7. Save money before you even see it. Automatic deduction—so you don’t get stupid ideas.
8. Only borrow money to invest or fix a serious problem. Never borrow to impress people who won’t help you pay it back.
9. Keep your family and marriage out of your work life. A man who mixes business with domestic drama loses both.
10. Stop being a boss’s pet. When he leaves, you’re just another disposable employee.
11. Plan your retirement the day you start work. Be out by 50, younger if you can. You’re not meant to die at your desk.
12. Join the company welfare fund. It’s boring until you need it—and then it’s priceless.
13. Use your leave days building something that will feed you when you’re old. If all you do is watch TV, expect the same life after retirement—just with less money.
14. Start a project while you’re still earning. Fail, adjust, try again. Retire into a running business, not into confusion.
15. Pension money is NOT seed money—it’s lifeline money. Don’t waste it on starting new ventures, school fees, or a young wife who will drain you dry.
16. Retire with dignity.
Be the man others point to as proof that retirement can be sweet—not the one they whisper about as a warning.
17. Retire while you can still move, travel, and enjoy mornings without an alarm clock. Men who retire too late spend the rest of their lives missing work instead of living life.
18. Retire in YOUR home, not in government housing.
That way, you fit back into your community naturally.
19. Don’t let company benefits make you lazy.
Those perks vanish the day you hand in your ID badge. Build something that outlives your contract.
20. Accept the truth—you WILL retire one day, voluntarily or not. Better to walk out on your terms than be pushed out like expired stock.
FINAL WARNING FOR MEN:
A paycheck is not security—it’s a leash.
Your boss is not family. Your office is not home.
Your job title is not your identity.
Build something of your own before life forces you to start from zero at 55.
