A/R: Police announce GHS20k bounty on individuals filmed threatening electoral violence

The Ghana Police Service (GPS) has announced a GHS20,000 placed on individuals from Obuasi seen in a viral video threatening violence during the upcoming 2024 general elections.

This was communicated via a statement released by the George Akuffo Dampare-led GPS, Sunday, November 24, 2024.

"The Ghana Police Service is still on a manhunt for the individuals from Obuasi who were declared wanted on 15th November 2024, for threatening violence during the upcoming 2024 General Elections," the statement opened.

"The suspects, including Fuseini Yahuza, Bernard Ahedor, Simon, Basit, Musa Yakubu alias Agya Musah, and their accomplices, have been on the run since the incident and the Police have been pursuing them," the police revealed.

"The Police are, therefore, appealing to the public to support the ongoing operation in search of the suspects by providing information that could lead to their arrest."

The statement went on, "A reward of Twenty Thousand Cedis (GHS20,000.00) is being offered for any person who provides credible information leading to the arrest of the suspects.

"Anyone with credible information may contact the Police through a dedicated phone number 0547927272."

"We urge the general public to remain calm since the Police are committed to ensuring that we live in peaceful, secure and orderly communities," it concluded.

Ghana goes to the polls on Saturday, December 7.

The Ghana Police Service has vowed it will be a very peaceful election, as they stand ready to thwart any plans and activities to destabilise the country.
