The National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has embarked on an extensive grassroots campaign to connect directly with Ghanaians and understand the pressing challenges they face.

The campaign, which has taken him across multiple regions, aims to underscore the NDC’s commitment to solving issues affecting the everyday lives of Ghanaians and to build momentum for the party in the December elections.

Speaking to a large crowd at a rally in Asasetre, Ellembelle Constituency, Western Region, Mr Asiedu Nketia called on the people to vote overwhelmingly for the NDC and its Presidential Candidate, John Dramani Mahama, to honour the legacy of Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

He expressed confidence that only the NDC could deliver a fair and prosperous Ghana, saying, “The NDC is the only party that can make Ghana a better place for all, just as Dr. Kwame Nkrumah envisioned.”

Throughout his tour, Mr Asiedu Nketia has encouraged voters to choose candidates with policies that would improve their lives and benefit future generations.

His campaign was focused on the NDC’s promises, including job creation, a revamped apprenticeship programme, and the establishment of a Women’s Development Bank.

He also reiterated the NDC’s pledge to improve the Free SHS programme, provide free entry for first-year tertiary students, and implement a 24-hour economy policy aimed at driving economic growth.

The NDC Chairman was outspoken about the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government’s decision to remove Dr. Nkrumah’s image from the two-cedi note, calling it a “disrespectful and political move.”

He charged voters to “restore hope by voting massively for John Dramani Mahama and Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah,” emphasizing that it was time to bring sanity back to governance by electing the NDC.

Mr Asiedu Nketia’s campaign, which has entered its second phase, began in the Ashanti Region, where he toured over 30 communities, including Anyinofi, Agona, and Obogu, among others.

There, he addressed concerns over poor road infrastructure, lack of social amenities, and limited access to quality education.

He assured residents that an NDC government would address these issues through improved road networks, clean water supply, better communication infrastructure, and affordable education.

The NDC Chairman then extended his campaign to the Western Region, visiting Amenfi West, Amenfi Central, Amenfi East, and Prestea Huni Valley constituencies.

He concluded this leg with a stop at Wassa East, and from there, he continued to the Central Region, where the retail campaign is ongoing.
