Two eyewitnesses who have provided accounts of the incident at Kwabenya that resulted in former Dome-Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo, sustaining a gunshot injury.

One witness, who said he was helping direct vehicles at the venue, claimed he saw a firearm being pointed from a black Toyota SUV and later realised that Adwoa Safo was driving the vehicle.

According to him, he initially mistook the vehicle for that of his “boss” before identifying the former MP.

“The woman who was driving the car was Honourable Adwoa Safo who tried to hit the gate,” he said.

The witness also claimed he recognised Adwoa Safo's bodyguard inside the vehicle.

“I also saw her security guy, whom I know. He was not shooting. He was making a call, I don't know who he was calling.”

He further stated that he saw Adwoa Safo leave the scene “peacefully” without any visible injuries.

“She passed where I was... without [any] hurt.”

Asked about the bullet holes found in her vehicle, the witness said he could not explain how they occurred.

“I don't know how that happened but I saw the gun coming out of the car,” he noted.

“There were a lot of people outside seeing it too. Even the driver and mate of the bus I stopped were there to witness this.”

He maintained that the gunshots he observed came from Adwoa Safo's vehicle but said he could not identify who fired the weapon.

A second eyewitness, who also said he was directing vehicles, claimed a car approached the venue at high speed, forcing him to move out of the way.

According to him, the vehicle struck the entrance gates multiple times.

“The car hit the gate of the main entrance almost three times and it went to the other gate and started hitting that one again,” he said.

He stated that shortly afterwards, he heard about six gunshots.

The witness further alleged that Adwoa Safo later confronted him after he alerted security personnel to clear the way because of the vehicle's speed.

“I did something and she warned me. She was speeding and I warned the security people that they should clear the way because the speed was too much. She thought I was alerting them that she is coming again. She said she would kill me because I was alerting them that she is coming. So I had to leave there,” he narrated.

The witness said he saw bullet holes in the vehicle when it later stopped near him but could not say how they were caused.

“The car stopped by me. I saw the bullet holes but I don't know who started it and who ended it.”

He also stated that he did not witness any injuries to Adwoa Safo.

“I saw online that she was bleeding but when I earlier saw her in the flesh, she was totally fine,” he said.

The witness further claimed he did not see any firearms among security personnel at the event.

According to him, the gathering was not intended to install a family head but was related to the selection of a new leader for the Kristo Asafo Mission church.

The two individuals spoke on condition of anonymity to a Class Media Group reporter.

The accounts come as police have arrested multiple security guards, and continue investigations into the circumstances surrounding the shooting incident at Kwabenya.
