Adwoa Safo receives treatment after reported shooting incident amid Kristo Asafo succession dispute
Former Dome-Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo, is receiving medical treatment following a reported shooting incident at the residence of her younger brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo.
Sources familiar with the matter say the incident occurred on Sunday during heightened tensions linked to an ongoing leadership succession dispute within the Kristo Asafo movement following the death of Apostle Kwadwo Safo.
According to reports, gunshots were fired during a gathering said to be connected to efforts to install Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena as successor to the late founder.
Witnesses alleged that armed individuals discharged several rounds of ammunition during the incident. Unconfirmed reports indicate that about 15 rounds were fired.
Sources close to Adwoa Safo claim that a bullet grazed her near the neck. She was subsequently taken for medical treatment and is reported to be in stable condition.
The incident comes amid an ongoing dispute within the Kristo Asafo family over succession arrangements following the death of Apostle Kwadwo Safo.
The succession process has reportedly become the subject of legal challenges, with some family members opposing moves to elevate Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena to the leadership of the organisation.
The Ghana Police Service has not yet issued an official statement on the incident. Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the reported shooting.
