A violent assault by a cutlass-wielding gang has left two students of Christ the King (CTK) Senior High School in the Ashanti Region's mining town of Obuasi undergoing medical care.

The perpetrators of the raid are suspected to be a group of young men originating from the Tutuka, Akaporiso, and Pomposo communities. Background and Cause of the Attack

The breach occurred directly on the school premises, shortly after final-year students had concluded their very last exam paper.

School Headmaster Owusu Gyimah indicated that the external attackers are tied to a faction that features some of the institution's own students.

According to Gyimah, this gang had repeatedly tried to infiltrate the campus in the past to target and harass female students, but their attempts were continually thwarted by the school’s cadet corps.

Tensions reportedly peaked when student members of the gang singled out the specific cadet leaders who had been blocking their entry. This friction ultimately led to the targeted, violent raid on the campus.

The headmaster expressed profound concern over the event, noting that the student body is traumatized and in desperate need of heightened protection.

Law enforcement has stepped in, and a police investigation is currently underway to track down and detain the suspects.

Although authorities have not yet taken anyone into custody, a number of local residents assert that they can identify specific individuals involved in the assault.

In the wake of the incident, terrified staff and students are demanding swift protective measures. They are appealing for a permanent police guard on site and the immediate construction of a perimeter fence to secure the campus against future intrusions.
