The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, has officially inaugurated a seven-member board for Kumasi City Market Limited (Kumasi Kejetia Market) tasking the new leadership with prudent management.

During the swearing-in ceremony held on Monday, February 16, 2026, the minister emphasised that the board’s primary mission is to ensure the facility functions seamlessly for the ultimate benefit of the traders.

The newly constituted board is chaired by the Kumasi Mayor, Richard Ofori Boadi, who will be supported by the Apagyahenene, Oheneba Owusu Afriyie, serving as vice-chairperson in representation of the Manhyia Palace.

The group features a broad coalition of stakeholders, including the Chief Executive Officer of Bentronics Agro Chemicals representing Kejetia Traders, and Nana Evelyn Serwaa Boadu, the Ntomahema, representing Central Market Traders.

Government and transport interests are also represented on the board by Osman Samaa from the Local Government Ministry, Anthony Gyazra from the Finance Ministry, and a delegate from the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU).

Lawyer Patrick Adu will serve as the secretary to the board, ensuring legal and administrative compliance.

In his keynote address, Dr Amoakohene cautioned the members to be highly circumspect in how they manage information regarding market operations.

He urged them to work with diligence and transparency, pledging his office's full support and inviting the board to maintain open lines of communication with him to resolve any emerging challenges.

Accepting the charge, Richard Ofori Boadi thanked the regional minister for the opportunity to serve.

He assured the public that the board would operate strictly within its mandate to ensure the proper running of the facility and to maintain its status as a vital economic hub for the region.
