Book of Condolence opens for late former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings
A book of condolence has been opened in honour of Her Excellency Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, the former First Lady of the Republic of Ghana, following her passing this week.
The gesture allows government officials, political leaders, diplomats, and members of the public to pay their final respects to the late Ghanaian stateswoman, whose legacy of public service and advocacy for women’s empowerment left an indelible mark on the nation.
The book of condolence has been placed at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC), where tributes have begun pouring in from across the political divide and civil society.
Senior government officials, Members of Parliament, former ministers, and representatives of women’s organisations are expected to sign the book over the coming days.
Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, wife of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings, was widely celebrated for her pioneering work in championing gender equality, social justice, and child welfare, notably through the 31st December Women’s Movement.
Her passing has drawn an outpouring of grief and tributes from across Ghana and beyond, with many describing her as a trailblazer and a voice for women’s empowerment.
Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family in due course.
