The Member of Parliament for Agona East, Queenstar Maame Pokuah Sawyer, has reaffirmed her commitment to ensuring that every community in the constituency benefits from development.

She gave the assurance during the commissioning and handover of a newly constructed AstroTurf at Agona Nantifa, describing the facility as the fulfilment of a key campaign promise made ahead of the 2024 general election.

Mrs Sawyer said the AstroTurf would promote youth development, encourage sporting activities, support talent identification and provide a safe recreational space for the community.

She noted that the facility forms part of a broader development agenda for the constituency, adding that several education, health and road infrastructure projects are at various stages of completion and will be commissioned in the coming months.

The MP also disclosed that she has engaged investors interested in establishing factories in the constituency to create employment opportunities for young people and stimulate local economic activity.

She appealed to the chiefs and people of Agona East to continue supporting her and the government of President John Dramani Mahama, assuring them that more development projects would be implemented across the constituency.

Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, who also addressed the gathering, commended the MP for delivering on her promise to the people of Agona Nantifa and urged residents to protect and maintain the AstroTurf.

He said poor maintenance remains one of the country's major challenges, often leading to the rapid deterioration of public infrastructure, and called on the community to take collective responsibility for preserving the facility for future generations.

Mr Debrah also pledged his continued support for development initiatives in the constituency.

The Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Prof. Richard Kofi Asiedu, also commended the MP for her commitment to the development of Agona East.

He said several projects are currently underway across the constituency and urged residents to continue supporting Mrs Sawyer to enable her to deliver more development.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Agona Nantifa appealed to the government to appoint Mrs Sawyer to a ministerial position.

According to the chief, the MP has demonstrated commitment, experience and dedication to the development of Agona East and would serve the country effectively in a higher office.
