Communications Minister orders dismissal of nearly 100 Ghana Post staff

The Minister for Communications, Sam George, has authorized the dismissal of nearly 100 Ghana Post employees, citing the need for efficiency and cost-cutting measures of agencies under his Ministry.
He emphasized that the decision was necessary and not arbitrary, stressing that it aligns with efforts to streamline operations and improve the financial sustainability of the state-owned postal service.
He said many of the staff were employed after the December 7 general elections.
According to him, there are about six hundred staff under the Ministry of Communication and in line with measures to prudently manage resources as directed by President John Dramani Mahama.
He announced the decision to order the dismissal while speaking on Accra 100.5 FM's midday news on Tuesday, March 25, 2025.
He argued for the need for the dismissals to enable the company to stay afloat
The move comes amid broader reforms aimed at enhancing the efficiency of Ghana Post.
