Denmark, Ghana signs MoU to boost agriculture and agribusiness under Feed Ghana Programme
The Embassy of Denmark in Ghana has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoU) with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture and the 24-Hour Economy Secretariat to strengthen agricultural production and agribusiness development in Ghana.
The agreement forms part of Denmark’s broader commitment to supporting sustainable agriculture and economic growth through strategic partnerships and technical cooperation.
The MoU was signed by the Danish Ambassador to Ghana, Jakob Linulf, the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku Mensah, and the Presidential Advisor for the 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development, Augustus Obuadum Tanoh.
The partnership aligns with international initiatives, including the European Union’s Global Gateway strategy and Green Deal, and will support the government’s flagship Feed Ghana Programme.
It establishes a Ghana-Denmark Technical Structuring Team tasked with identifying and implementing viable projects focused on capacity building, mechanisation and financing across the agricultural value chain.
Under the agreement, the parties will collaborate on investment financing, cold chain and post-harvest infrastructure, co-operative development and governance, livestock modernisation through mechanisation and improved genetics, seed system development including feed and fertiliser production, shea industry expansion, as well as research and academic partnerships.
The Minister for Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, said the collaboration is expected to enhance climate resilience, promote environmentally sustainable farming practices, and strengthen institutional capacity through knowledge sharing between Danish and Ghanaian stakeholders.
