Divided NPP cannot return to power - Paul Afoko
National Chairman hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul Afoko, has called for unity within the party, warning that the NPP cannot regain power unless it resolves its internal divisions and reconnects with members who feel marginalised.
Speaking at the official launch of his campaign and the unveiling of his vision for the party on Tuesday, July 14, Mr Afoko said healing internal rifts would be essential to rebuilding public confidence and positioning the NPP for future electoral success.
He argued that a divided party would struggle to win elections, stressing that unresolved grievances and growing disaffection among party members continue to undermine the NPP's strength.
According to Mr Afoko, the party must address concerns of members who feel excluded or overlooked and ensure that internal contests do not weaken the organisation.
He also called for a renewed commitment to the party's core values of respect, discipline, tolerance, service and loyalty, saying those principles have long defined the NPP's political tradition.
Mr Afoko said his decision to contest the National Chairmanship is driven by a desire to unite the party rather than advance the interests of any particular group.
He pledged to work across generations, regions and competing factions to rebuild trust and foster greater cohesion among party members.
His remarks come as the NPP prepares to elect a new national leadership to steer the party's reorganisation following its defeat in the 2024 general election.
